Benji butterfly would like to challenge you to create your own version of a ‘Bug Box’. We use bug boxes/hotels around our farms to attract and
encourage all the beneficial bugs and insects, keeping them warm and happy so that they help us with essential pollinating and deterring pests. Why not
make one for your garden to encourage insects to pollinate your flowers.
You can either follow our step-by-step guide to create our version or create your own completely different design, either way we would like to see your
creations for a chance to win a family day out.

Step 1
Take an old tin can peeling off any labels, ensuring it is clean
and dry inside out and has no sharp edges).
Step 2
Hunting for natural materials is great fun, looking for things like
sticks, bark and cardboard rolled into tubes.
Step 3
Cut/break all your sticks down so that they are the
same length as the tin can.
Step 4
Insert them into the tin can until it is full and you are unable
to put any more in.
Step 5
Tie a piece of string around the middle of the tin can and then
hang it up in your garden in a sheltered spot.
Step 6
Check your bug hotel in a few days to see the hive of activity.
