ABOUT US

Our ‘OrchardWorld’ brand was created several years ago, initially starting off with a small selection of Top Fruit. It has progressively grown over time, and now we have not only over 20 lines within our range, but also an additional premium tier… 'Our Best'. Our fruit is carefully selected by experts, bringing you some of the best varieties around, all with their own unique flavours and characteristics. The team have worked tirelessly over the years to select the winning varieties that we think that you will love, bringing them to your attention so that you can decide which flavours best satisfy your taste buds.

The companies behind the brand, OrchardWorld Ltd. (established in 1989), and Norton Folgate (established in 1996) allow us to supply you with a depth of product selection including Top Fruit, Citrus, Stone Fruit, Cherries, Grapes, Kiwi Fruit, Asparagus and Rhubarb. The two companies are collectively known as ‘The Orchard Fruit Company’ and we have generations of produce industry experience that helps us to stand out from the crowd.

OUR AIM

We aim to provide the very best quality fruit and we want to keep expanding this range so that you have a continual selection of quality products. We are also passionate about expanding our ‘Organic’ range of fruit.  This is fairly limited at the moment; however, we know that this is very popular and we are in the process of selecting our favourites which will then be added to our range.  We have also introduced a new product tier which we have called ‘Our Best’; fruit that we have selected and genuinely believe is super quality, having that extra wow factor with unique flavours. These are our challenges…why don’t you set yourself a challenge and aim to try all the different varieties of fruit available? You may find that you discover a new favourite!

OUR GROWERS AND PRODUCE

We work with some outstanding growers both in the UK and all over the world. Whilst our brand invests heavily in producing and supplying British fresh produce, this is not always possible throughout the year, and by introducing sources from Europe and the Southern Hemisphere, it allows us to keep supplying good quality produce year-round and of course varieties that are native to specific countries.

We have worked with our English growers for many years and have fantastic partnerships with them.  These relationships make us stronger together to produce the very best produce delivered to your fruit bowl.  From the infamous East Kent fruit belt to the rolling landscapes on the Essex/Suffolk border, we are committed to only providing the very best quality fruit.

Our Citrus and Stone Fruit comes from growers that we also have worked with for a long time, including South Africa and Spain to name but a couple. This allows us to bring you some of the very best varieties that just cannot be grown in the UK due to our climate.

WHERE YOU CAN FIND ORCHARDWORLD PRODUCE

Currently, we supply most of our range to Ocado, Costco, Whole Foods Market, Spar (not all shops) and Amazon Fresh. We continue to try and develop new business with other customers, and our brand has an increasing presence in the industry.  First and foremost, our focus is on the quality.  Our passion is to supply good quality fruit and we don’t ever want to lose sight of that.

ENVIRONMENT

Insects play a big part in making what we do successful, so we have to ensure that we pay nature back by encouraging them to stay with us. We do this in ways such as creating ‘Insect Hotels’, and building little hiding places and woodland retreats with the excess wood from the old orchards.  We create habitats where the insects can thrive, so they are all buzzing with joy!

ZERO WASTE

All of our growers have their own unique and amazing stories. One of our key growers has an AD (Anaerobic Digestion) plant which utilises by-products from the growing and production processes.  This in turn creates energy to power the farm and packhouses, striving towards our zero-waste targets. We also use excess wood as plant bedding for soft fruit.

PACKAGING

Our biggest challenge is packaging. We want our products to be supplied in environmentally friendly packaging whilst at the same time protecting the fruit.  Different categories and varieties require different levels of protection and we need to ensure that our produce endures the pressures of the supply chain. As you can imagine, this is an ongoing challenge, and we have a dedicated team busy working in the background to find solutions to this. We have already come a long way, with about half of our range in environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging.

POSSIBILITIES FOR THE FUTURE

This year we are planning to create a recipe book, taking our brand to the next level to give you even more passion and inspiration on other ways to use our fruit.  This is work in progress, and we aim to have this completed later in 2021.

Eventually, we would like to run an e-commerce site so that you can order your produce direct from OrchardWorld, meaning fresher fruit, longer shelf life and a dedicated service.  You can’t say ‘fresher’ than that!

Please explore the rest of our website to find out more about our fruit supply, seasonality, recipes, growers’ stories and a much more.
